A boy stands on a lakeshore.
Behind him is all he’s ever known. Ahead: a chance for love and a rather higher chance of death. He’s had a happy life, and a sheltered one.But his father gambled away that life, the debt is enormous, it won’t be paid in money, and it won’t be his father who pays. Childhood is over…

Dominic Kelly, Bridget Marsden & Leif Ottosson combine storytelling and music into a playful and gripping performance. They bring to life an ancient full-bloodied fairy tale for modern audiences, weaving versions from Norway, Scotland, Ireland and India with contemporary Scandinavian folk music. Through it they explore the consequences for the young when older generations fail to make adult decisions.

“… magical, haunting… a truly inspired performance… makes you sparkle from the inside out…” oneandother.com on Dominic, Bridget & Leif’s previous show The Devil’s Purse.

Described by BBC Radio as a ‘master storyteller’, Dominic Kelly has performed across the world, and directs storytelling & music shows for Norway’s national folk arts stage, Riksscenen.
Fiddler and composer Bridget Marsden is specialized in the Bingsjö tradition. She was awarded Artist of the Year at the Swedish Folk & World Music Awards 2016.
Accordionist Leif Ottosson is renowned for challenging conventional styles of playing. His duo album with Bridget, Mountain Meeting, stands in Lira magazine’s list of the 100 most important Swedish folk albums of all time.
